There is no such thing as a “Normal Railroad Time”
in the US or Canada ; however every railroad firm adopts independently
the time of its personal locality, or of that place at which its principal workplace
is located. The inconvenience of such a system, if system it may be known as,
have to be obvious to all however is most. annoying to individuals strangers to the
truth. From this trigger many miscalculations and misconnections have arisen,
which not unfrequently have been of great consequence to people,
and have, as a matter or course, introduced into disrepute all Railroad Guides,
which of necessity give the native occasions. To be able to relieve, in some extent,
this anomaly in American railroading, we current the next desk of
native time, in contrast with that of Washington, D. C. :
By a simple calculation, the distinction
in time between the a number of locations above named could also be ascertained. Thus
as an illustration, the distinction in time between New York and Cincinnati could
be ascertained by easy comparability, that of the primary having the Washington
midday at, 12:12 p. m,. and of the latter at 11:31 a. m ; and therefore the distinction
is 41 minutes, or, in different phrases; the midday at New York shall be 11:19 a.
m. at Cincinnati, and the midday at Cincinnati, shall be 12″41 at New York.
Keep in mind that locations West are “slower” in time than these East, and vice
versa.
