DAVES OLD COMPUTERS – Commodore/MOS KIM-1
In 1975, MOS Expertise designed a small laptop to showcase their new 6502
processor. This was launched in 1976 because the KIM-1 (Keyboard Enter Monitor).
The KIM-1 is a quite simple laptop. It consists of a 6502 processor, with
two 6530 multi-purpose chips, every of which comprises 1024 bytes of ROM, 64 bytes
of RAM, a timer and 15 I/O pins. 8 1kx1 static RAMs add one other 1K bytes of
reminiscence, and a handful of logic interfaces a keypad, LED show, bit-banged TTY
port and a cassette tape interface. Inside the 2K of ROM is a management program
which offers primary monitor capabilities by way of the keypad and show. Two 44-pin
growth connectors enable the KIM-1 to develop.

offered the case (if any) and energy provide.
Here’s a view of the back. The rubber toes had been
provided with the unit.
The KIM-1 person guide that I’ve is an unique MOS one. The MOS and Commdore
verions are equivalent save for the change in brand, coloration of the board, and the
place of the single-step change. The “First e book of Kim” exhibits the MOS model
