Masks – MARKO CICILIANI
for no-input mixer
composed in 2002
whole length: 25′
A no-input mixer is a mixing board, which doesn’t have any exterior sound sources related to it. By utilizing sure connections between its numerous outputs and inputs, inside feedbacks are created which are then used as the fundamental musical materials. Attribute of the no-input mixer is, that the assorted feedbacks usually intervene with one another in unpredictable methods, making a type of ‘life by itself’.
The piece ‘Masks’ was impressed by schamanistic rituals and searches for a stability between textures and sounds during which the mixers ‘life by itself’ is put within the foreground, and others the place the management of the performer predominates.
‘Masks’ was launched as a restricted version on mini CDs in 2005. The rating which might be downloaded served me as a reminiscence support when performing the piece. It’s not legible as a standard rating.
