Readiness standing at browser launch

uBO’s readiness at browser launch time is a very prickly subject on Chromium-based browsers,[1] particularly more so since Chromium 110. This results in quite a few experiences of “uBlock stopped working”, that are merely attributable to the truth that at launch time the browser began to load webpages earlier than uBO was able to filter correctly (as a result of the filter lists weren’t totally loaded in reminiscence).

To cut back the variety of experiences attributable to this subject which is outdoors of uBO’s management, uBO’s toolbar icon will now mirror its readiness standing at browser launch.

  1. A yellowish toolbar icon implies that uBO is presently loading all filter lists into reminiscence and as such is just not able to filter correctly:

For Chromium-based browsers, it’s attainable to automate step 4 above by checking the setting Suspend network activity until all filter lists are loaded in Filter lists pane within the dashboard. Caveat: up to now some customers have reported this negatively interfered with web page loading at browser launch time in some circumstances (example, example), therefore why it’s non-obligatory and never enabled by default in Chromium-based browsers.

Code viewer

Investigating filter points is usually a critical time sink, and to assist with this, a code viewer has been added to uBO. The code viewer will robotically beautify HTML/CSS/JS code, which needs to be an enchancment over the browser built-in view-source instrument.

You may view beautified supply code of HTML/CSS/JS sources when clicking the hyperlink in a logger entry. Moreover, if the advanced setting filterAuthorMode is about to true, an entry labelled View supply code… will probably be added to the context menu, so to view the supply code of any web page/useful resource with out having to open the logger.
